"Music is harmony, harmony is perfection,
perfection is our dream, and our dream is heaven”
— Henri Frederic Amiel

Founded in 2003 as a summer program, the Liberty Community Chorus was created to foster the singing talents of a mixed (SATB) choir and share the art of choral music with the Kansas City community through the pursuit of choral excellence in the rehearsal and performance of diverse musical styles. Early in 2004 in response to demand from the singers, the program was expanded to two seasons a year with concerts presented in the fall and spring. The organization continued to grow in 2010 with the return of a short summer season and the addition of Chamber Singers, a 16 to 24 voice group auditioned from the membership of the Chorus.

In keeping with the dream to present diverse music styles the main Chorus and Chamber Singers have performed works from a variety of composers including John Rutter, Donald McCullough, James Mulholland and Moses Hogan. Additionally the Chorus has performed the music of Bach, Beethoven, Brahams and Berstein as guest artists with the Liberty Symphony and been have guest artists at the Liberty Heritage Festival, The Jewish Community Center, Northwest Missouri State University and at the Celebrate Liberty Festival for the last two years.

The 2011-12 season will kick off with the annual picnic on August 25th at 6:00 pm in Stocksdale Park, Liberty MO where music for the fall will previewed and singers can pick up their music as well as get to know other members of the group. Rehearsals commence on September 1st at 7:00 pm for the main Chorus’s November Concert “Musica Mystica” . After a brief holiday hiatus, rehearsals will commence again in January in preparation for the spring program “Music of the Sonnets” on Sunday April 29th.

Auditions for the Chamber Singers will be held in late September with their first concert “A Renaissance Cathedral” taking place on February 25th.  Their final performance for 2011-12 season will be on June 10th when they present “Americana – Our Heritage In Song”.

Tickets for all events can be purchased online or at the door.

The Chorus could not exist without the generous support of our patrons and we wish to thank them for all their help past and present. If you would like to join in helping present our 2011-12 season, please contact us for more information or donate here.
