About the Event
Liberty Community Chorus will perform an outdoor spring concert on Monday, May 24, at Belvoir Winery and Inn, 1325 Odd Fellows Rd., in Liberty at 6:30 p.m. The concert, titled “A New Beginning in Song!”, features 40 singers masked and socially distanced performing songs from composers including Randall Thompson, Eric Whitacre, Elaine Hagenberg and Kim Arnesen.
The chorus, under the direction of Bryan Taylor and accompanied by Nanette Kraus, will perform “Sing Gently”, a choral work composed by Eric Whitacre who conducted a performance of over 17,500 singers world-wide in the first-ever virtual concert of its size. Among other selections, Liberty Community Chorus will also perform “Seasons of Love” from the Broadway musical Rent and “Choose Something Like a Star” from well-known composer Randall Thompson.
The outdoor concert will follow safety protocols and attendees are invited to bring their own lawn chairs for seating and follow social distancing. Masks are recommended. Online reservations are requested to assist in space planning and a donation of $10 per ticket is suggested. Reservations and donations may be made through the chorus website at libertycommunitychorus.org. Donations may also be made at the concert. For more information, contact Bryan Taylor at (816) 510-5933.
Founded in 2003, the Liberty Community Chorus is an 80-voice chorus open to singers 16 years of age and older. However, due to COVID-19 protocols, the spring concert has been limited to 40 members. The Chorus consists of non-auditioned singers from throughout the greater Kansas City area who prepare, rehearse and perform stunning modern and ancient choral works from the world’s great composers.
