Join us on March 15 for a concert featuring the choral works of Elaine Hagenberg. Her music is characterized by its lush harmonies, soaring melodic lines, and a profound sensitivity of setting texts to music. Whether she is orchestrating voices for sacred texts or the poetry of masters such as Sara Teasdale, her work explores the deepest corners of the human experience—hope, grief, and the quiet beauty of the natural world.

The Liberty Community Chorus was established in 2003 as a summer chorus and soon became incorporated and increased their performance season to four main concert sessions annually. The LCC’s vision has always included the pursuit of choral excellence in our rehearsals and performances for a mixed (SATB) chorus. The chorus averages 70 to 80 singers each session from ages 16 years and older. As we approached our 23rd season, we wanted to celebrate our choral journey by sponsoring a choral festival for local and non-local singers who wish to rehearse and perform with an amazing conductor, in a tremendous acoustical and architectural space. Our conductor is Dr. André Thomas, retired Director of Choral Studies at Florida State University and a celebrated composer/arranger, and choral guest conductor throughout our country and abroad. The rehearsal and performance space is at the spectacular Community of Christ Temple in Independence, Missouri.
The LCC sponsored choral festival, I Hear America Singing! will be held on Friday, June 5, and Saturday, June 6, 2026. The schedule for the festival is a multi-faceted event anchored by the Liberty Community Chorus, which will be rehearsing the music for this festival as their normal fourth session of their 23rd season beginning on Thursday, April 9, 2026, and continuing weekly rehearsals through the choral festival dates.
There are two ways to join this choral festival:
1.) Singers joining for this full session pay a $45 singer and choral festival fee. Register for the full festival session here. (IMPORTANT: if you already signed up for all four sessions of this season at the beginning of August, you do NOT need to re-register.)
2.) Kansas City Area Singers who cannot join for the full session can join us on June 5 & 6, paying a $75 festival fee – music is included in the fee. Please register for the two day festival here.
If you have further questions about the festival, please contact the Liberty Community Chorus director, Bryan Taylor at bryansings@gmail.com.
Thank you for joining us for our most recent concert.
